Choosing a care home

Choosing a care home is never an easy decision regardless if it is for you or some close friend or family member. It is important that you consider all the relative information and speak with people and organisations that you trust. We have listed below some considerations which we think are helpful in making the right choice.

Visiting

Visiting the care home is by far the best way to get a sense if it is right for you. You will get the opportunity to meet the care staff and see first hand if the place is to your liking. It will allow you to meet the other people who live there and afford you the opportunity to consider if they are people you can spend time with. The care homing staff will be able to advise regards the many services they provide e.g. meals, bedrooms, social activities, minibus, outings, etc. This will ennbaqkle you to experience first hand and give you a personal feel if it is for you ( initial impressions and gut feeling are important!)

Regulator

The care inspectorate provide highly respected and credible inspection report at least one very year. This report will give you a good insight into the overall care home and its ability to meet your needs.
